This
year’s celebration along the streets of Chinatown brings the
Mid-Autumn Festival experience to new heights with a wide array
of activities and events.
Join in the festive lantern parade and procession featuring
traditional pole lanterns, skillful performing troupes,
international lanterns, and brightly-lit trishaws and floats.
There will also be a series of fun-filled activities and
competitions to ensure that there is something for everyone. |

Activities:
Opening Ceremony on 31 Aug
(New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street)
Guest-of-honour, President S.R. Nathan will officiate the
light-up of New Bridge Road and Eu Tong Sen Street. There will
also be a spectacular stage show and a dazzling procession
comprising of floats, trishaws, dancing lions and dragons to
usher in the festival celebrations in Chinatown.
Gigantic Lantern Displays from 28 Aug – 28 Sep
(Open Field next to Sago Lane)
Huge animated lanterns of 36 feet in height are specially built
by craft masters from Sze Chuan, China to liven up the Festival.
Festival Carnival from 28 Aug – 28 Sep
(Open Field next to Sago Lane)
A carnival cum bazaar, a wide variety of Mid-Autumn goodies and
warehouse promotional items will be on sale. An event not to be
missed by bargain hunters.
Festival Street Market from 28 Aug – 11 Sep
(Pagoda, Trengganu and Sago Streets)
Over 100 exciting street stalls selling a wide variety of
tidbits, moon cakes, lanterns and decorative items will line
Pagoda, Trengganu and Sago Streets, creating a vibrant and
festive atmosphere in the heart of Chinatown. With the amazing
selection of festive goods, there will definitely be something
for everyone.
Nightly Stage Show from 31 Aug – 11 Sep
(Kreta Ayer Square)
Get ready to feast your eyes on a wide variety of performances
ranging from Cantonese opera to acrobatic performances. People’s
Theatre Foundation has specially brought in a Beijing Opera
Troupe from Hebei, China to perform daily. |

Competitions:
International Lantern Competition from 31 Aug – 11 Sep
(Open Field next to Sago Lane)
Engaging the international community for the first time
to share in the celebrations, there will be an
assortment of lanterns reflecting different cultures and
ethnic groups on display.
National Moon Cake Competition
(People’s Park Complex)
A strong panel of reputable food critics and ‘chefs’
will ensure that the winners will be well deserved.
Children Painting Competition on 7 Sep
(Kreta Ayer Square)
Centred around the Mid-Autumn Festival theme for
children 12 years and under, the competition provides an
opportunity for them to express themselves through the
spirit, vigour and colour of the celebrations.
